10 to choose Fluenz

1. We believe in great teachers.
As video and computers become ever more integrated, we've been able to give great teachers a central role in our software. Fluenz Mandarin is led by a passionate tutor who guides the learner every step of the way. While most language software looks like PowerPoint, we strive to bring the human touch back to learning.
2. It really helps to understand it in English.
When learning a new language as an adult, nothing makes more sense than to understand what you're learning in English. Instead of memorizing phrases without rhyme or reason, we accelerate your ability to understand and construct new sentences by using your knowledge of English as leverage for learning the new language.
3. We only teach relevant stuff.
When learning the foundations of a language, it only makes sense to learn what's relevant to communicate in realistic situations. For example, instead of typical descriptive sentences that no one will ever use in real life ("The man is running"), we emphasize learning how to formulate useful questions ("Can I have a cup of coffee?").
4. Common sense explanations make a difference.
We believe there is an alternative between endless explanations of the pluperfect tense, and no explanation at all. Practical and simple tutorials on how the new language works in relation to English is the common sense approach to understanding something new.
5. Strong foundations are important.
Too much information too fast is the surest way not to lay the deep foundations necessary for advanced learning, which is why we concentrate on teaching a few fundamentals at a time very well. Instead of one thousand words in sixteen units, we’ll focus on 300 of the most important words, joined together by a deep understanding of the most important grammatical structures.
6. Each language requires something different.
Each language is not only different from one another, but has its own particular relationship to English as well. Our custom-made programs carve unique paths through the new languages, taking advantage of how an English-speaking learner can see the similarities between Spanish and English vocabulary or Mandarin and English grammar.
7. It feels like a classical classroom.
At a time when technology in education breeds complexity, Fluenz tries to feel like a simple classroom. Each of its clearly defined sessions follow the same structure: introduction, conversation, tutorial, workouts, and conclusion, and they are centered around the same tutor throughout each level, providing the kind of straight-forward guidance that is too often lacking in digital learning.
8. We won't treat you like a child.
Not only do many programs offer the same content for seven-year-olds as they do for forty-year-olds, the legacy of children's software dumbs down the learning environment for adults. Instead, we try to offer a smart, stimulating environment in which real people are treated with intelligence.
9. Simplicity matters.
Learning new languages is complex enough, so why make the program itself confusing? Our applications offer simple navigation, simple explanations, and you never have to install a thing.
10. Passion rules.
We don't offer fifty languages we don't even understand ourselves, but just a few we're really passionate about.
